Provost and Chief Academic Officer

Deborah Sopczyk, PhD, RN is the provost and chief academic officer of Excelsior College. She was named to the position in January 2017 after serving as interim provost since September 2016. She joined the College in 1984 within the School of Nursing.

Chief Operating Officer

James Lettko is the chief executive officer of Excelsior Workforce Institute. Previously, he served as the College's vice president for Human Resources and Administration.

Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer

Dawn Gerrain joined the College in 2017 as chief marketing and business development officer. She is a skilled marketer and a transformational business leader, steeped in experience, leading organizations through major industry disruptions. Her strengths lie in developing customer-centric strategies, fostering innovation, driving business development, and creating a collaborative and engaging culture.

Chief Information Officer

Tom Hausmann was appointed the CIO of Excelsior College in July 2017. He brings with him more than 23 years of IT management, leadership, and consulting experience, as well as five years of higher education teaching experience. 

Chief Communications and Government Affairs Officer

As chief communications and government affairs officer, Mike Lesczinski advises the president and senior leadership on communication and government affairs issues. He is Excelsior’s primary spokesperson and previously served as a communications specialist in the New York State Legislature.

General Counsel

As general counsel, Karen Halaco serves as Excelsior College's chief legal officer, providing legal advice and counsel to the Board of Trustees, executive leadership, and staff. She joined the College in 2010 as assistant counsel and was promoted to deputy counsel in 2012.

VP, Human Resources

Mark Howe works with the Board of Trustees, the President, the executive team and human resource professionals to develop human resource policies and programs that promote the exceptional performance and retention of Excelsior's employees nationwide.

Assistant VP, Analytics and Decision Support

Lisa K. Daniels, PhD came to Excelsior College in 2006 as a research associate, and has since served as Assistant Director of Outcomes Assessment, Director of Institutional Research, and Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness. Currently, as Assistant Vice President for Analytics and Decision Support, she leads the merged business intelligence, analytics, and institutional effectiveness functions and supervises staff in multiple working teams.
